Remembrance Evensong
St Brides, St. Bride's Avenue, EC4Y 8AU London
About
A Remembrance Evensong service at St Bride's, a special orchestral service of Choral Evensong for the day of national reflection when those who have fallen in war are remembered. St Bride's Choir and Orchestra will perform Finzi's Requiem da Camera as the anthem, a deeply personal act of remembrance dedicated to Ernest Farrar, killed in action in 1918, and a requiem for other artists such as composer George Butterworth. The work for baritone, mixed choir and small orchestra sets verses from poetry written during the war by John Masefield, Wilfrid Wilson Gibson and Thomas Hardy, moving between grief, pastoral reflection, and quiet thanksgiving. All are welcome to attend this service which lasts approximately 1 hour.
