About
A piano recital with spoken narration at Wigmore Hall, presenting the music of Claude Debussy. Rêverie: The Life and Loves of Claude Debussy is the fourth Composer Portrait compiled and scripted by pianist Lucy Parham, with actor Sir Simon Russell Beale as narrator. Told as a personal journal, it follows Debussy from his success with the Prix de Rome in 1885 to his death in 1918, and touches on his entangled love life. Piano works range from Clair de lune, Rêverie and The Girl with the Flaxen Hair to showpieces such as Jardins sous la pluie, the Etudes and L'isle joyeuse.
