About
An evening of new research talks on Shakespeare, race and performance, held at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. Dr Eli Cumings of King's College London examines a 1961 production of Macbeth staged in colonial Zimbabwe, and Dr Lydia Valentine of Shakespeare's Globe explores the racial meaning of bastardy in The Winter's Tale. The two scholars present work shaping the next generation of early modern race studies, as part of the Shakespeare and Race Festival 2026. The event runs for one hour and ten minutes.
