At the Hearth: Make a Pinch Pot with Greenwich House Pottery
About
At the Hearth is a drop-in program in the museum's historic Carnegie Library where visitors sit by the fireplace for conversations about design. This session offers a hands-on pinch pot workshop: make a simple, un-fired, hand-built clay vessel with Greenwich House Pottery, New York City's home for ceramics education, founded in 1902. Visitors can view inspiration from the organization's archive, recently acquired by the Smithsonian Archives of American Art, then make their pinch pot downstairs in the Lecture Room. A warm welcome will be provided by Alexandra Hodkowski, Curator of Public Programs, and Michelle Millar Fisher, Chief Curator.
