ATTENTION AND DEMOCRACY [ONLINE] (3/3)
Strother School of Radical Attention, Washington Street 55, 11201, Brooklyn
About
An online seminar, the third of three sessions, examining how the fracturing and monetizing of collective attention—called "human fracking"—threatens democratic politics. It is offered by the Strother School of Radical Attention and led by Mihir Kshirsagar, director of Princeton's technology policy clinic and former lead trial counsel for the New York Attorney General. Drawing on thinkers such as John Dewey, Hannah Arendt, Jürgen Habermas, and Danielle Allen, the course asks what forms of attention make healthy politics possible and how everyday people can join the effort to repair democratic institutions. It meets virtually over Zoom.
