Playback: a listening evening with Chantal Michelle.

Bar Laika presents the forty-second edition of Playback, an evening with composer Chantal Michelle. Playback is a series of informal listening events curated by Kamran Sadeghi, where record labels, musicians, composers, and producers feature recordings from their catalog and premiere album pre-releases, archives, and rarities. Michelle is a composer and interdisciplinary artist whose work engages the spatial, tactile, and perceptual dimensions of sound, using feedback systems, multichannel composition, and psychoacoustic phenomena. Her latest album, All Things Might Spill (Shelter Press, 2026), stretches time into tense, long-held tones and clear melodic lines that resolve into suspended, dynamic soundscapes.
