Cabaret: Bob Fosse's musical film with Liza Minnelli.

Cabaret is a 1972 musical film directed by Bob Fosse, set in Berlin on the eve of Hitler's rise to power, starring Liza Minnelli, Michael York, Helmut Griem, Joel Grey, and Maria Berenson. Fosse won the Best Director Oscar for his shattering film, while Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey also won Oscars for their performances as Sally Bowles, a vivacious but damaged American singer in a seedy nightclub, and the devilish emcee who presides over it. With rousing show tunes by John Kander and Fred Ebb and gloriously ragged photography by Geoffrey Unsworth, the film reinvented the movie musical for 1970s American cinema.
