About
Capricious is a concert evening by the American Classical Orchestra at the Starr Theater in Alice Tully Hall. It presents the U.S. premiere of Franz Berwald's Symphony No. 2, a rarely heard Swedish Romantic work composed in Vienna in 1842, given here on period instruments. The program also includes Carl Maria von Weber's Romantic 1821-issued opera music of Oberon, written for Covent Garden on the tale of the fairy king, and closes with Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 as part of the orchestra's tribute to the composer's death bicentenary.
