About

College Essay Jumpstart! Finding Your Story is an in-person writing workshop for teens on crafting a strong college essay. It is led by Kelly Jean Fitzsimmons, a Queens writer and storytelling series producer who helps high school students write essays that reveal their unique character to admissions officers. The workshop teaches students how to mine their memories for specific details, create strong openings, and hear their personal narratives read aloud to see how they come to life when spoken.
