About

A workshop where participants make fire cider, a folk remedy of pungent and spicy herbs infused in apple cider vinegar and honey, traditionally prepared for cold and flu season. It is led by certified community herbalist Kira Louzoun-Heisler at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, part of its Community Greening Workshops. Participants learn the history and chemistry of fire ciders, choose from autumn crops such as spicy peppers, garlic, onions and herbs, and make their own personalized concoction for themselves and their community. Each person also takes home an herbal plant to try.
