Day of the Dead 2026

Day of the Dead 2026 is a free family celebration of Día de Muertos at the museum, held in its Kaufman Courtyard as part of the Open Worlds 2026 series. It is co-presented by the Mexican Cultural Institute and features Aztec Mexica dance, music from the Indigenous dance troupe Yayauhki Tezcatlipoka and the Mexican Folkloric Ballet of New York, digital media activities for kids and families, a free face-painting session inspired by historical Día de Muertos characters, and a public altar (ofrenda) presented by the artist and historian Rosa Ruíz and Catrinamía.
