About

Diwali Celebration at the Seaport Museum is a free, all-ages celebration of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, with hands-on activities on the Museum's Water Street cobblestones. It is presented by the South Street Seaport Museum together with The Culture Tree Collective Inc. and the Rubin Museum. Visitors can decorate and float a battery-operated diya-inspired candle, make rangoli designs with flower petals and sand, and get henna from a henna artist. The afternoon also includes a Diwali Puppet Storytime in the Maritime City gallery, an interactive dance workshop with mudras and Diwali songs, free access to the Maritime City exhibition, and letterpress printing at Bowne & Co., Stationers.
