About

A screening of the feature film Field Niggas, presented by UnionDocs Center for Documentary Art ahead of Khalik Allah's workshop Camera Ministry: Lens-based Encounters. The 2015 film by filmmaker and photographer Khalik Allah was shot entirely at night on the corner of 125th Street and Lexington Avenue in Harlem, drawing intimate portraits and conversations of the people there. Through fragments of dreams, regrets, arguments and affection, the film unfolds as an immersive encounter with a place and its residents. Allah's camera moves with uncommon intimacy, dissolving the distance between filmmaker and subject.
