GRIEG'S PIANO CONCERTO WITH PER TENGSTRAND

A concert opening the new season of Music on Park Avenue, focusing on Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg and his Piano Concerto in A minor. Pianist Per Tengstrand performs the famous concerto in his own transcription for piano and string quartet, joined in Victor Borge Hall by four young Princeton University musicians: Ian Kim and Daniel Lee on violin, Jisang Kymm on viola, and Elliott Kim on cello. The quartet also plays the first movement of Felix Mendelssohn's first String Quartet, and Tengstrand performs the andante cantabile movement from Robert Schumann's Piano Quartet. On loan from Victor Borge's grandson Finn, the pieces are played on Victor Borge's personal Steinway piano.
