About
"Mansion Magic: A Houdini-themed Halloween Evening" is a tribute show to the magician Harry Houdini, presented at the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum. Professor Shreeyash Palshikar marks the centenary of Houdini's death on Halloween in 1926 and explores the legacy of the greatest magician ever, from his humble childhood to his worldwide fame and tragic death. The show includes Western and Indian magic and takes up questions that have intrigued people for a century, such as how Houdini achieved his great successes, what he feared, why he turned against the popular Spiritualist movement, whether the spiritualists sent an assassin to kill him, whether he was one of America's first global intelligence officers, and what connection he had with Indian magic.
