About
NYZ: Sunday Morning Service and Zazen is a Sunday morning Zen practice at the New York Zendo, held by the Zen Studies Society. It consists of choka (morning service) followed by kinhin (walking meditation) and zazen, and after zazen there are 30 minutes of nittensoji (temple cleaning) followed by tea and informal discussion, with a Dharma Talk on the first Sunday of each month. Newcomers are asked to first attend an Introduction to Zen Meditation class, held on Thursday evenings, and the event is also offered online. A quiet atmosphere is essential: no scented cosmetics, silent electronic devices, and comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.
