About

"Sarah Leahy: Plain Sense" is a solo exhibition of an immersive wall painting at EFA Gallery, on view from September 15 to December 8, 2026. The artist Sarah Leahy, a member of The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts for 25 years, created this site-specific commission, curated by Deric Carner. Spanning 33 feet across two walls, it is rendered in black India ink directly on the white gallery walls as an image of a beech grove, painted from a collage of photos of trees now sick from a blight. The title, drawn from Wallace Stevens' poem The Plain Sense of Things, points to perceiving things directly, without elaboration or fantasy, inviting quiet viewing and contemplation.
