Torah & Taverna Night

About
Torah & Taverna Night is a monthly salon of Greek Jewish culture, thought, and music, held at Kehila Kedosha Janina Synagogue and Museum on Broome Street. The evening pairs a talk by a guest Jewish educator with live music, Greek food, and more. This month, scholar Katherine Booska, a PhD candidate in Jewish history at Stanford University, leads a discussion on Jewish history and memory drawn from Zakhor, exploring family, spirituality, community, and the writing of Jewish history. Afterwards, Rodini Rose and Friends perform melodies from across Greece and the Mediterranean; Rodini is a Cypriot-American vocalist and violinist weaving together Greek folk, Spanish, Neo Kyma, Turkish, and Ladino traditions.
