About
A concert evening with the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra presenting Kedusha, music of 17th and 18th-century Jewish communities across Europe, performed on historical instruments in the Scheuer Auditorium. The orchestra was founded in 1989 by harpsichordist Professor David Shemer and specializes in Early Music played with historically informed practices. The program features Baroque compositions from Holland and Italy that once resonated in synagogues, including recently discovered music by anonymous Jewish composers, cantors, and non-Jews for synagogue use, alongside the United States premiere of two contemporary works by Jaap Nico Hamburger and Alon Schab. It is presented alongside the exhibition Sacred Splendor: Jewish Ritual Art and Christian Treasures from St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague.
