“Ukrainian Poetry Outburst” hosted by Virlana Tkacz with Eugene Hutz, Julian Kytasty and others.

An afternoon of poetry at the historic Ukrainian National Home where the power of poetry confronts the world of war. Virlana Tkacz, founder of the Yara Arts Ukrainian-American theater company, hosts readings dedicated to Serhiy Zhadan and other poets in Ukraine, performed in Ukrainian and English by Gogol Bordello lead singer Eugene Hutz and bandura master Julian Kytasty. Poets Alvin Eng, Bob Holman and Wanda Phipps respond with their own work, and Susan Hwang premieres a new song based on a Zhadan poem; conditions permitting, Zhadan himself joins virtually from Kharkiv.
