Arsen und Spitzenhäubchen

The Bernhard Theater presents 'Arsen und Spitzenhäubchen', a criminal comedy by Joseph Kesselring. The in-house production directed by Niklaus Helbling tells of the old ladies Alice and Martha Brunner in Zurich's Wiedikon quarter, who keep corpses in their cellar and become embarrassed when their nephew Jonathan arrives with his surgeon Dr. Einstein to hide a corpse there himself. A macabre, turbulent round of uninvited guests, policemen and poisoned elderberry wine begins. The 1941 play was the basis for the film starring Cary Grant and has delighted theatre audiences for decades.
