Ishita Chakraborty

Galerie Peter Kilchmann presents the exhibition "Ishita ChakrabortyKNMA". The show "Inheritors of Earth", curated by Premjish Achari, turns to plants as co-inhabitants of the earth rather than backdrop, resource, or specimen. Through paintings, photographs, installations and video, the artists practice a "phytosensitive" approach, tracing colonial botanical migrations and honoring uncredited lower-caste knowledge-keepers erased from scientific archives. The title draws on Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's "Bhumiyude Avakashikal" and on the ecological activist Kallen Pokkudan.
