About
An exhibition opening of photographic works by Nathalie Bissig, winner of the near. prize 2026. Titled "The Wolves Were So Bold That They Carried Away a Fresh Bearskin That Was Lying by the Fire", it centres on the wolf as a symbol of the omnipresent danger once faced and still faced in the Swiss mountain canton of Uri, where legends and ancient fears grew out of the closeness of people and animals. Bissig inverts her photographs, as if a night-vision camera had lifted the shadows, so that grass, stone and slopes begin to glow and new details surface, such as a face in the mountain. The longer one looks, the more mysteries gather behind the dark windows. The opening takes place at Galerie & Edition Stephan Witschi.
