SANAS 2026

The SANAS Conference 2026: American Un/Freedoms is an academic conference held at the English Department of the University of Zurich. In the year of the United States Semiquincentennial, it examines the contested histories and the current state of American un/freedoms: whose rights and liberties matter, which unfreedoms are tacitly accepted, and how literary and cultural representations negotiate questions of un/freedom in the US and beyond. It is organized by Prof. Dr. Katharina Gerund and Prof. Dr. Barbara Straumann. The program includes talks and keynotes.
