About
"Sandscapes" is a hand-drawn, ephemeral performance about the nature of miracles, circles and time. The Swiss circus artist Ueli Hirzel, once a tightrope walker and later a patron of emerging artists at his Château de Monthelon, uses a pendulum to draw a fine spiral of white sand onto a black circle. The movement creates patterns that become images, which overlap one another, disappearing and appearing. The circle echoes the circus ring, where danger and vulnerability are real and nothing can be hidden.
