The lecture «Unlesbar»: Von der Kritzelei bis zur Kryptographie explores the phenomenon of unreadable texts. Drawing on examples from the holdings of the Swiss Literary Archive in Bern, it offers a thematic overview. Topics range from old or cryptic handwriting and foreign writing systems to encrypted messages and creative forms of distorting texts and meaning. The lecture also serves as preparation for visiting the exhibition «Unlesbar» at the Literaturmuseum Strauhof.
