The Alte Nationalgalerie is showing a special presentation that brings together works by artists of the 19th and late 20th centuries at select locations throughout the building. The occasion is the anniversary year of the National Gallery, which opened in 1876 as a home for contemporary art. On all three floors, encounters between works of the 20th and 21st centuries and 19th-century art invite visitors to engage in associative viewing. The presentation is a project of the Alte Nationalgalerie, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, made possible by the FREUNDE der Nationalgalerie and supported by the Eva Leinemann Kunststiftung.
