About
“Zeitreise ins alte Tiergartenviertel” is a freely accessible presentation recalling the creative, art-loving residents who lived around Matthäikirchplatz 100 years ago. It was put together by the Kunstbibliothek, which carries out intensive research into this sunken Atlantis of modernism. Pictures and texts tell of the lives and work of once-famous local residents – art collectors, gallerists, interior designers and fashion designers – whose splendid era was brutally brought to an end by the Nazi state in 1933. The presentation also looks ahead to the future of the Kulturforum, where the Kunstbibliothek will be represented in the new “berlin modern” building.
