Art of Pakhawaj: a concert of classical Indian music.

An evening concert of classical Indian music opening with the rare stringed instrument Sursingar. Hungarian musician János Gerzson, who earlier spent years practising the Indian lute Sarod, draws listeners into a meditative atmosphere with the deep sound of the Sursingar. Pandit Radheshyam Sharma from Delhi, a master of the Pakhawaj, an ancient barrel-shaped two-headed drum, then gives a solo that opens up an encounter with the complex rhythmic concepts of classical Indian music. His student Beate Gatscha supports him with additional sounds.
