AZOLIA – CD Release Konzert: Begegnung mit Rilke (Unit Records)

AZOLIA – CD Release Konzert: Begegnung mit Rilke (Unit Records) is a vocal chamber jazz concert at Kunstfabrik Schlot. The international quartet consists of Belgian singer and composer Sophie Tassignon, German-American alto saxophonist, clarinettist, singer and composer Susanne Folk, German bass clarinettist and soprano saxophonist Lothar Ohlmeier, and Swiss double bassist Andreas Waelti, who have been setting poetry to music for years. After a programme on the British poet Wilfred Owen, the band now turns to Rainer Maria Rilke, presenting a new programme for the 100th anniversary of his death in 2026 that weaves selected Rilke poems into chamber-musical, airy and deeply felt compositions. Voice, wind instruments and bass interweave with ample space for sensitive interplay, making Rilke's language newly audible – fragile, radiant and full of resonance.
