About
CRAZY OLD LADY is a horror thriller. Produced by the Oscar®-nominated J.A. Bayona, it marks the feature-length directing debut of the Argentine screenwriter Martín Mauregui, who also wrote the script. After a desperate call from his ex-girlfriend Laura, Pedro is to look after her mother Alicia, who has dementia, for one night, but the old woman takes him for Cesar, a secret lover from her past with whom she shares a terrible secret. Bound to an armchair in the house surrounded by a park, Pedro must play the hated Cesar while Alicia seeks revenge with ever crueler resolve; the leads are played by Carmen Maura and Daniel Hendler.

Critics
6.6Good
The review praises the harrowing, intense gothic horror that turns family duty into fear, praising its provocative extremes. It faults some overly familiar horror tropes that make the territory feel familiar rather than new.
