Possession
Wolf Kino, Weserstraße 59, 12045 Berlin, Neukölln
About
"Possession" is a feature film about Mark and Anna, whose marriage in early-1980s Berlin lies in ruins, as Anna's affair and a sinister secret involving a bizarre monster escalate. It was directed by Andrzej Żuławski, with Isabelle Adjani, Sam Neill and Heinz Bennent in the leading roles. The fragmentarily told film offers boundary-breaking performances, omnipresent paranoia and extreme eruptions of violence in close proximity to the Berlin Wall. It can be understood as a complex examination of the division of good and evil.

Critics
7.7Very good
Critics praise the intense acting, bold direction and rich symbolism, calling it unforgettable and multi-layered. They fault the exaggerated, unhinged style, which makes some scenes hard to watch and the story confusing.
