Der Besuch der alten Dame
Vagantenbühne, Kantstraße 12a, 10623 Berlin, Charlottenburg
About
Der Besuch der alten Dame is a tragic comedy by Friedrich Dürrenmatt. Director Lily Kuhlmann turns the classic into a gripping horror story from which Alfred Ill cannot escape: the billionaire Claire Zachanassian returns to her bankrupt hometown of Güllen and offers a billion for the head of motel owner Alfred Ill, who got her pregnant as a young girl and left her with the child. The townspeople strictly reject the offer at first, but the question is how long the moral stance of the town's society will hold and whether justice is ultimately for sale. Four actors appear on stage, with stage and costumes by Kaja Busch, sound design by Fyn Robin Grajetzky and a clever use of projections, video and live camera.
