Wiesbadener Improvisations Ensemble at 40: concert and talk.

A concert and talk in the Denkraum: Sound & Lecture series in the Saal of exploratorium berlin. The Wiesbadener Improvisations Ensemble – Dirk Marwedel on extended saxophone, Ulrich Phillipp on double bass and Wolfgang Schliemann on drums and percussion – looks back on forty years of working together in 2026. The trio combines individual sonic languages with unconventional playing techniques and surprising turns, having developed a highly nuanced, precise interplay with an extraordinary wealth of sound material. In the following conversation with Mathias Maschat, the focus is on forty years of ensemble work, on networks and initiatives such as the Kooperative New Jazz and the HumaNoise congress, and on collective self-organisation in improvised music.
