About

A discussion round examining why scientific evidence often fails to shape politics. It takes place at Falling Walls and is supported by the Hertie Foundation. The speakers include Angela McLean (Chief Scientific Adviser, UK Government), Michael Sanders (King's College London), Helge Reinhold Braun (University of Lübeck) and Marie-Eve Sylvestre (University of Ottawa). The debate addresses evidence losing out to electoral logic and short-term incentives, and the political structures that let governments act on knowledge without losing democratic legitimacy.
