About
To mark the 100th birthday of Peter van Pels, the Anne Frank Zentrum invites visitors to a public tour devoted to his biography. Peter van Pels was born in Osnabrück in 1926 and emigrated with his parents to Amsterdam in 1937 because the family, being Jewish, was no longer safe in Germany. From July 1942 until the arrest in August 1944 he hid with Anne Frank's family in the annex at Prinsengracht 263, playing a special role in Anne's life. After being deported to Auschwitz and taken on one of the »death marches« to the Mauthausen concentration camp, he died a few days after liberation in May 1945, aged 18.
