About
A reading and discussion titled „Einsamkeit überwinden: Wie Bibliotheken uns verbinden“ opening the nationwide action month „Gemeinsam in der Bibliothek“. Daniel Haas reads from his autobiographical novel „Einsamsein. Eine Befreiungsgeschichte“, in which he writes movingly of self-doubt, lack of belonging and shame, and of how he found his way out through connection, friendship and the willingness to accept help. Afterwards, Federal Education Minister Karin Prien and Frauke Untiedt of the German Library Association talk with him about the causes and effects of loneliness and the role of libraries as places of encounter; the conversation is moderated by Tina Lurz. Behind the action-month campaign against loneliness stand the Federal Ministry of Education, Family, Seniors, Women and Youth and the German Library Association; admission is free, and advance registration is requested.
