About
At St. Matthäus-Kirche at Berlin's Kulturforum, the Vokal Ensemble Batumi, the state choir of Georgia's Adjara region, appears as a guest for an a cappella concert marking its 35th anniversary. The program spans traditional Georgian vocal music, Georgian songs of the 20th century, and arrangements of works by German composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Schubert. Audiences hear UNESCO-protected Georgian polyphony with love songs as well as dance and work songs and spiritual hymns. The concert is part of a tour that also stops in Herzberg, Dresden, Leipzig and Magdeburg.
