FB Geschichts- und Kulturwissenschaften, Koserstraße 20, 14195 Berlin, Dahlem
About
In the Global History Colloquium, Kate Brown of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology speaks on the history and present of urban gardening. Her talk, 'Tiny Gardens Everywhere – the Past, Present, and Future of the Self-Provisioning City', uncovers a hidden working-class history of food production around the home and in community allotment gardens, in Berlin, Washington, DC, Amsterdam, cities of the former Soviet Union and beyond. Brown is the Thomas M. Siebel Distinguished Professor in the History of Science and author of several prize-winning histories. The event takes place at the Department of History and Cultural Studies.
