About
A book launch and conversation at Chapters: Edwin Nasr presents his debut novel "Fear Eats Ali", celebrated as a first collaboration with the publisher Wirklichkeit Books. The novel follows Ali, who left southern Lebanon for Berlin almost a decade ago and now stands accused of assaulting a police officer at a Palestine solidarity demonstration. Carried by tragic humour and political reckoning, it is a forthright novel about the time and place of resistance, the debt it leaves behind, and the helplessness of men in the face of immense historical change. In conversation with Chapters founder Sharmaine Lovegrove, Nasr discusses migration, sexuality and belonging, and how questions of identity connect us to the political landscape in Berlin and Germany today.
