Behzad Karim Khani reads from his novel „Als wir Schwäne waren“. In it, a boy flees Iran with his family to the Ruhr region in the 1990s and experiences Germany as an affront. While his mother believes in getting ahead and his father is a writer, the son's anger grows in a neighbourhood ruled by violence. The novel tells of the diaspora as home, of the freedom in being a stranger and of the truth of swans.
