In den Ritzen der Geschichte

“In den Ritzen der Geschichte” is an evening of readings and conversation with the Chinese poet Xi Chuan, regarded as one of China's great contemporary poets. He reads from his poems and talks with Lea Schneider, who translates his texts into German together with Dong Li and moderates the evening. It centers on his poetic path: from the mythopoetic early work of the 1980s, through the rupture after June 4, 1989, to the prose poems of the 1990s, marked by contradictions, absurd humor and deep skepticism toward clear-cut truths. The reading is in Chinese with German and English translations, the conversation in English, in cooperation with Beletrina Academic Press, organizer of the Festival of Poetry 2026 in Slovenia.
