The exhibition "Auf ruhigen Flüssen der turbulenten Welt entfliehen" presents the fisherman as a motif in Chinese painting. Marking the 120th anniversary of the East Asian Art Collection, it shows works in which the nameless fisherman embodies resilience. The idyllic landscapes also stand for withdrawal from a turbulent, stressful and dangerous environment. While an empty boat with a loose rope means freedom and independence for some, for others it recalls flight from a place they once called home.
