In translation: Lucy Lee Jones in conversation with Ambika Thompson

About
This is a book launch with a conversation at the venue Chapters. Translator Lucy Lee Jones speaks with writer Ambika Thompson about Charlotte Gneuß’s newly translated novel Red Skies, a literary thriller set in the former GDR, and what it means to translate complexity and clarity. The protagonist Karin Köhler, 16 years old, comes under suspicion and becomes entangled in a confusing web of misleading information after Paul disappears. Although the story is rooted in East Germany, its heart is universal: a young girl caught in a terrible situation, not knowing how to ask for help.
