Lied der Wildbahn

About
„Lied der Wildbahn“ is a German culture film in feature length from 1949. The wildlife filmmaker Heinz Sielmann directed it and wrote the script; he was assisted by Georg Schimanski and Friedrich Wilhelm Reimers under the production management of Willi Mohaupt, the music is by Peter Voelkner, and the narrators are Heinz Ladiges and Heinz Klevenow. In the film it is not the hunter with the gun but the always-ready camera that stalks the fauna of the Lüneburg Heath, the forests of the Weser Uplands and the pastureland of the Ems lowlands – European bison, red and fallow deer, fox cubs, wild geese, northern goshawks and dormice, filmed from the frog's-eye view of the mossy ground and the bird's-eye view of treetops. From almost two years of production time, an account moving to the rhythm of the seasons was condensed in the editing.
