About
The film "Jagdszenen aus Niederbayern" is being screened. Peter Fleischmann's feature debut, based on a modern folk play by lead actor Martin Sperr, is considered the birth of the critical anti-Heimatfilm. Twenty-year-old Abram returns to his childhood village after serving prison time in Landshut for homosexuality. His rural Lower Bavarian community then turns on him in a witch hunt. Tilman Schumacher gives an introduction.

Critics
6.6Good
Critics praise the uncompromising social critique, its exposure of provincial prejudice and conformity, and the force of its non-professional cast. They fault overdrawn grotesque characters, shrill clichés and a grim, at times heavy-handed style.
