Love Is Here To Stay

"Love Is Here To Stay. Die George & Ira Gershwin Story" is an evening of music and storytelling aboard the cultural ship MS Goldberg in Berlin-Spandau. With Julie Wolff (vocals), Max Doehlemann (piano), Jotham Bleiberg (trumpet) and narrator Judith Kessler, it tells the story of the brothers Jacob and Israel Gershowitz, who as George and Ira Gershwin made their way from St. Petersburg via New York's Lower East Side to Broadway and Hollywood. There the two broke down genre boundaries between jazz, blues, swing, popular culture and European art music. The programme features key works of the Great American Songbook such as "Someone to Watch Over Me", jazz standards like "I Got Rhythm", songs from "Porgy and Bess" and excerpts from "Rhapsody in Blue" and "An American in Paris".
