About
Matt Browning: A Screen of Trees is an exhibition of carved wood sculpture at the Mies van der Rohe Haus in Berlin. Matt Browning, born in 1984 and based in New York, carves chains from blocks of Douglas fir and stacks them into changeable lattice architectures that can be compressed into a straight line or drawn out to room size. The show also includes The Concept H͟o͟u͟s͟e (2026), built up from pieces of red cedar and coated with shellac. It is curated by Dennis Brzek, the director of the house, in the bungalow built in 1932/33 that frames the surrounding landscape through its windows.
