Nosferatu – Eine Symphonie des Grauens
About
“Nosferatu – Eine Symphonie des Grauens” is a silent film by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau from 1922, regarded as the mother of all vampire films. The young estate agent Hutter travels to Transylvania, where he concludes a house purchase with the sinister Count Orlok and realizes that he is a vampire. Orlok travels to Wisborg and brings plague and death to the town, which can only be saved by the voluntary sacrifice of Hutter's wife Ellen. A plagiarism ruling over Bram Stoker's “Dracula” condemned the film to destruction, but copies survived in foreign archives.

Critics
8.3Very good
Critics praise the eerie atmosphere, visual style, iconic vampire performance and the film's lasting influence on horror. They fault the theatrical, exaggerated acting, the vampire's sometimes insufficiently frightening look, and dated image quality.
