Matti Klein Acoustic Trio plays Bobby Timmons' soul jazz.

A concert evening in the Orania.Grooves series at the Hotel Orania in Berlin-Kreuzberg, in which an acoustic trio celebrates the repertoire of soul jazz pianist Bobby Timmons. Behind the evening is keyboardist Matti Klein, internationally known as a groove master and vintage keyboard enthusiast, a former founding member of the jazz funk band Mo' Blow and, since 2013, artistic director and keyboardist for Brazilian superstar Ed Motta. At the centre are Timmons' timeless compositions such as Moanin', Dat Dere and This Here, with which he combined irresistible gospel-infused grooves with lyrical sophistication and shaped the sound of modern jazz for generations. Rooted in the spirit of hard bop, the music unfolds with spontaneity and deep respect for the original material.
